| * Important News * Due to major building works being carried out at Breckland Resource Base we are unable to use the hall. A new venue is currently being sought. This means that the club has had to be suspended in the mean time. Once a new venue has been found all members will be contacted. In the mean time, although not ideal, all members are invited to come along to Easton Judo Club to train. The club is based at Easton College Leisure Centre a few miles before Norwich. If you need directions send Chris a message through the contact us page. |

| Chris Abel achieved his first gold medal of the year at the B.J.C. (M.A.C.) Anglia Region Closed Championships which took place yesterday. He dominated the group winning each of his contests with an Ippon maximum score. After a few initial attacks, Chris won his first contest with an Uchi Mata, throwing his opponent flat onto their back. In his second contest, after a few exchanges of grips and minor attacks, Chris was thrown for a Waza Ari score. He kept battling on, finally throwing this opponent for another Ippon scoring Uchi Mata, which many of the officials said was the throw of the day. In his final contest, Chris scored a Waza Ari thrown and followed up with a reverse scarf hold to gain the Ippon. |

| Chris Abel attended his first championships of the year and at the Tsu-Mo-Kie Open Championshhips, and achieved a silver medal in the lightweight Dan Grade Open. This was an extremely evenly matched group with 3 in the pool gaining the same number of wins and points. Chris is now looking to retain the gold in the under 73Kgs at this years B.J.C. (M.A.C.) National Closed Championships in May. |

| The club is always on the look out for new members. If you have any friends or family who you think might like to give judo a try why not bring them along. We can also do presentations and taster sessions for schools and youth groups. For further details about either just ask Chris. |

It is also for new and perspective members to gain more information about the club and the activities we get up to. | Dereham Judo Club meets on Thursday evenings at the Breckland Resource Base on London Road near to the town centre. The class starts at 18:30 with all levels welcome. Although most of the current membership is made up with juniors, there is also a small number of seniors who also attend. Visitors are always welcome, but due to limited space please contact us before attending as members shall be given preference. |
